The Wander connector links your Wander map to Claude, the AI assistant from Anthropic, or to ChatGPT. Ask in plain English and your assistant does the work on your map: fill in missing details and photos, build a guide, import a trail, pull last month’s numbers.

Once connected, you can read and edit most of your map by asking: places, trails, photos, categories, guides, itineraries and events. A few places to start:

    Up to 100 places in one approved step. Fields that already have content are skipped; new photos are added alongside the ones you have.

You stay in control

Most changes, and every deletion, wait for your yes.

  • Preview first

    For most changes, and every deletion, you see exactly what will change before it’s saved, and it waits for your yes. A preview keeps for five minutes; after that, just ask again.

  • Your organization’s maps only

    Sign in with the same Google, Apple or email account you use for the Wander builder. The connector needs a Wander organization account, and your assistant only sees the maps your organization manages.

  • One map at a time

    Pick the map when you connect. Your assistant works on that map until you ask it to switch: “Which maps can I use?” or “Switch to the downtown map.”

Connect to Claude or ChatGPT

Connect Wander in a few steps.

You need the connector URL below and your Wander sign-in: the same Google, Apple or email account you use for the Wander builder, in a Wander organization. Set it up on a computer.

Claude

  1. In Claude, open Customize → Connectors (in some versions, Settings → Connectors). Click +, then Add custom connector.

  2. Name it Wander, paste the connector URL, leave Advanced settings empty and click Add.

  3. Click Connect next to Wander, and sign in to Wander with Google, Apple or your email.

  4. Choose your map and click Connect map. With only one map, Wander picks it for you.

  5. In a new chat, click + → Connectors and switch Wander on. Allow it the first time it asks.

  6. Type “Initialize the session.” When Wander asks who you are, answer Publisher or DMO, then ask your first question.

Free, Pro, Max, Team or Enterprise. On the Free plan, Wander uses your one custom connector. Once connected, Wander also shows up in the Claude phone app.

On Team or Enterprise, an Owner adds Wander once: Organization settings → Connectors → Add → Custom → Web, paste the URL, Add. Then each person clicks Connect and signs in with their own Wander account.

Then run /mcp, pick wander, choose Authenticate and sign in to Wander.

ChatGPT

Business, Enterprise and Edu · developer mode (beta) · web

ChatGPT adds custom MCP apps through developer mode, in beta, on the web. A workspace admin or owner sets it up.

  1. Turn on developer mode. On Business, each admin or owner turns it on for themselves. On Enterprise and Edu, an admin can grant it to members.

  2. Create a custom MCP app: name it Wander, paste the connector URL and choose OAuth.

  3. When the Wander sign-in opens, sign in, choose your map and click Connect map. The page is titled “Connect to Claude” for now; it is the same Wander sign-in.

  4. Create the app, open a new chat, choose Wander and say “Initialize the session.” To share it with your workspace, an admin publishes it.

  • ChatGPT asks you to confirm Wander’s actions, and Wander still previews most changes before they’re saved.
  • It works in ChatGPT on the web, not in the ChatGPT phone app.
  • On Business, new Wander tools show up after an admin recreates and republishes the app.

Good to know

  • Previews wait five minutesA preview stays ready for five minutes. After that, just ask again.
  • You stay signed inThe connection lasts as long as you use Wander at least once every 90 days. After that, click Connect again.
  • Changing accountsIn Claude, open Customize → Connectors, use the ⋯ menu next to Wander to disconnect or remove it, then add it again.

If something goes wrong

“No maps found on your account”
Your sign-in isn’t in a Wander organization yet. Use the account you use for the Wander builder, or ask support@wandermaps.com.
The Google or Apple window doesn’t open
Allow pop-ups for the page, then click Connect again.
“Connected!”, but you’re not taken back
Switch back to your assistant yourself. In the Claude desktop app, click Open Claude Desktop.
Claude says it has no Wander tools
In the chat, open + → Connectors and switch Wander on.
