01Wrangell, Alaska

Offline download · iPhone app

Travel Wrangell: Where the road ends, the map keeps going.

Wrangell is a ferry town near the mouth of the Stikine River, and most of the destination is backcountry. Its official map draws the Forest Service trails and roads as lines, and puts the public-use cabins and shelters beside the town’s museum, food and places to stay. Cell service is sparse out there, so Wander switched on offline download: once a visitor has opened the map in the iPhone app, it can save to their phone over Wi-Fi before the signal drops.

What the map shows

  • Forest Service trails and roads, drawn as lines
  • Public-use cabins and shelters beside the town’s museum, food and places to stay
  • Offline download in the iPhone app, switched on by Wander where the signal drops
  • Themed guides for hiking and camping, wildlife and museums

Yosemite Mariposa County: Yosemite’s trails, drawn the way you hike them.

What the map shows

  • Trails drawn as lines: the Mist Trail, the Valley Loop, Upper Yosemite Falls
  • Waterfalls, viewpoints, food and stays beside the trails
  • The same map in the Wander app, ready for when the signal drops

03Gettysburg, Pennsylvania

Destination Gettysburg: The battlefield and Main Street, on one map.

Destination Gettysburg embedded its official map on its own site, so people already reading about the town plan their day on it. The battlefield sits beside the museums, tours, restaurants and wineries that make a visit, so local businesses are found on the same map as the places people came for.

What the map shows

  • The official map embedded on the destination’s own website
  • Local tours, restaurants and wineries beside the battlefield
  • Which places get opened most, in the destination’s own dashboard

04Julian, Pennsylvania

Built by Wander as a reference destination

Explore Julian: The map is the website.

explorejulian.com is a destination website that runs on one Wander map. Its place pages, events, stories and trip planner all read from the map, and the map sits beside every page with search inside it. We built it so you can see the idea working, not in a slide.

What the map shows

  • The map beside every page of the site, with search inside it
  • Places linked to what’s around them: trailheads, parking, food nearby
  • Events pulled every day from the state parks' public calendar, set up by Wander
  • Stories written with Wander’s team, where every place is a pin on the map
  • Sign in on the site, plan a trip, open it in the Wander app (set up by Wander for each site)

05Wake County, North Carolina

Visit Raleigh: From Umstead to the Neuse, a whole county on one map.

Visit Raleigh’s official map covers all of Wake County, and the same map runs on visitraleigh.com. Greenways cross it as real lines, from Umstead State Park to the Neuse River, beside parks, museums, food and places to stay. On the web, nearby places gather into clusters that show the mix at a glance. Guides and a parks check-in challenge give people a reason to head out.

What the map shows

  • Greenways drawn as lines across the county, from Umstead State Park to the Neuse River
  • Clusters on the web map that show the mix of places at a glance
  • Guides to fall hikes, murals and free attractions, plus the Wake County Parks Dash, a check-in challenge in the Wander app
  • Listing information credited to Visit Raleigh on the web map

06Upcountry, South Carolina

Embedded on upcountrysc.com

Upcountry South Carolina: From brewery trail to waterfall tour, one official map.

Upcountry South Carolina runs from the Blue Ridge foothills down to Greenville and Spartanburg. Its official Wander map sits on upcountrysc.com, and the itinerary pages on the site carry a map of each trip: numbered stops, day by day, with the route drawn in. A brewery trail from Spartanburg to Travelers Rest and a waterfall tour through the mountains read from the same places, so people plan on the page they are already reading.

What the map shows

  • The official map, embedded on upcountrysc.com
  • Itinerary pages with their own trip map: numbered stops, days and the route
  • Waterfalls, state parks and lakes along the Blue Ridge, beside breweries, farms and history
  • A credit back to upcountrysc.com on the places it supplies, on the web

Sanibel & Captiva Islands Chamber of Commerce: Pick a beach, follow the path, find lunch on the island.

The Chamber publishes the islands’ map on Wander. Beaches from the lighthouse to Captiva, Sanibel’s shared-use path drawn as a line, and local restaurants, shops and places to stay sit on one map, so a beach day, the ride there and lunch after are planned in one place.

What the map shows

  • Beaches from the lighthouse to Captiva
  • Sanibel’s shared-use path, drawn as a line
  • Local restaurants, shops and places to stay beside the beaches
